How does this work? Am I dealing with an artist or West Galleries?
West Galleries came into being to support artists, many of whom prefer to concentrate on their passion, painting, and leave all the technical side of promoting themselves and selling their work to me. All the artists in our community pay a small monthly subscription and no commission fees. This allows them to keep all the money they earn from your purchases.
In return West Galleries provide them with a hassle free web presence with their full contact details for customers to deal directly with the artists whose work they love. So in most instances customers will be dealing directly with the artist, only when customers purchase online will they be dealing with West Galleries and the artist.
We believe that part of the buying experience for customers is to meet the artist in their studio if they so wish and many artists enjoy meeting their customers directly, it’s why we paint! This is especially so for commissioned works.
Increasingly, however, people are now choosing to buy online which is why some artisans have chosen to utilise the Online Store option allowing their customers to buy direct from them immediately so they can sit back and wait for their purchase to arrive at their door. It also allows customers to pay by credit or debit card via PayPal (even if customers do not have a PayPal account).
What payment options are available?
Direct from the Online Store
We can process payments for debit and credit cards through PayPal (you do not need to have a PayPal account in order to pay by credit or debit card). If you already have a PayPal account you can of course use this.
Direct from the Artist
Most artists will accept cash or cheque payments but please confirm this prior to visiting them. We can also email a link to you allowing you to pay by credit or debit card via PayPal if you so wish.
I really love an artwork but would prefer a different colour or size, do you accept commissions?
Virtually all our artists will be happy to work together with you to create something perfect for your situation or as a unique and personal gift for someone you love.
If you see a ‘Commissions’ tab on their gallery page, this will give you full details of their particular way of working.
How safe is the West Galleries website, are my details secure?
We take great care of your details:
We use Mailchimp email management systems to store all our customer email addresses
We use PayPal to process all debit and credit card payments so again, all your details are stored elsewhere and not on the West Galleries website. We are a PayPal verified account holder for your peace of mind.
I cannot see the 'lock' in the address bar, why not?
The ‘lock’ will appear in the address bar once you have selected an artwork and added it to your basket. We hold a PayPal verified account and we do not store any of your details on our website – the transaction is processed entirely by PayPal for your complete peace of mind.
Do you accept returns?
Yes, we do for online purchases please notify the artist as soon as possible and within 3 days.
All that we ask is that artworks are returned to us in perfect condition, in original or alternative secure packaging and fully insured to cover any loss/damage in transit.
We aim to process refunds within 2 working days, banking systems permitting.
Do you have any 'Sales' or discounts, offers etc?
No, we do not.
We do not believe this is fair to our customers or our artists.
We offer all subscribers to our Newsletter an ongoing 10% discount which we feel works better for our loyal customers since they are able to benefit from this at any time. Our artists do not have to deal with a sudden drop in their income which allows them to provide a first class no quibble service to our customers.
Do you offer Home Trials?
Many of our artists will allow you to take home an artwork once payment has been received in full.
Please confirm this with the relevant artist however, since it is entirely at their discretion.
Once full payment has been cleared you will be asked to sign an agreement whereby the artwork will be returned in perfect condition within 24hrs if it is too big or not suitable for your home.
The agreement stipulates that the Home Trial is at the customer’s risk and if it is damaged, NO REFUND will be made.
